Be A Rafiki!

Our Rafikis, which translates to friends in Swahili, are an integral part in helping us fulfill our mission statement by providing authentic stories and perspectives which help create proximity to Kibera. Many Rafikis attend boarding schools around the United States, while others attend local schools around Kenya and Africa. Here is what being a Muanzo Rafiki entails:

  • Consistently engages with social media content (including the Blog) and provides feedback to Head Coordinators accordingly

  • Attends or contributes on the panel of one Muanzo Mpya webinar each trimester

  • When in Kibera: contributes to networking and recruiting new Rafikis, sends video footage once every two weeks according to a predetermined schedule to Technology Manager, reports a weekly account of work in Kibera to Head Coordinators
